What is keto diet?

Keto is short for ketogenic, and a ketogenic diet is a low carb, high fat diet that not only leads to weight loss but may have a lot of other benefits as well. The keto diet was originally designed to cure epilepsy among children but is now enjoying widespread support among dieticians and health gurus.

Benefits of a keto diet

The most important benefit for a lot of people is of course weight loss, but a keto diet may have many other benefits as well.

The ketogenic diet can help you lose excess fat, which is closely linked to type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and metabolic syndrome, and studies shows that a ketonic diet can substantially increase insulin resistance.

Reduces risk factors such as high body fat, high blood pressure and blood sugar.

May reduce symptoms and slow progress.
